Queer Sex & Relationship Therapy

“As QT [queer/trans] people, it’s SO hard to find affirming therapists who know what they’re talking about, especially about sex stuff. Thank you!!” -P.N. & R.L.

We are cellular beings. The embodied ways we are in relationship matter. The messages that we receive through our skin, bones, and blood permeate and influence our sense of ourselves and how we are in connection with each other. And the area of physical touch and intimate embodiment is profoundly under-addressed and under-resourced in the field of therapy. Especially when we’re talking about queer and trans bodies and relationships. Let’s change that, shall we?

Approach

Em has been a formal and informal educator in the field of human sexuality for almost twenty years, and earned a Masters of Education in Human Sexuality and a clinical Masters in Social Work in 2018. There’s something about the intersection of the body, the self, and the other that is endlessly compelling. And there simply aren’t enough providers out there having educated conversations with clients about this stuff.

Em’s approach to queer sex therapy strives to increasingly knowledgable and affirming of all identities, backgrounds, relationship structures and sexual practices. The reason Em operates within a therapy modality instead of coaching around these topics is because often, our history and stories about sexuality and intimacy have a deep hold on us; those histories are calling to be unpacked and aired out. Too often, trauma plays a significant role in how we are in relationship to our bodies and selves, and those parts of our histories deserve thoughtful support.

Logistics

Em provides queer sex therapy for individuals and partners. After the initial 1.75 hr intake session, sessions are 50 or 80 minutes long, include a follow-up email and some texting access, and cost $250 - $300/session. Em offers bundled discounted packages of various sizes (5, 10 or 20 sessions) and payment plans to increase accessibilty. If clients are interested in working together but pricing is a barrier, Em provides discernment tools re: sliding scale/tiered compensation and is available to engage in conversations about sustainable, growth-centered compensation.
